Source: Final Fantasy VIII Total Cost: 220 USD about Time Consumed: 50 + hours Why I made it: Well, for a while now I've had this fabric which I absolutely HAD to make into a Rinoa outfit. Then .. Well long story short… the glorious Pixiekitty was going to wear her new sorceressy costume of amazingness at Otakon and I wanted to do more cosplay with her. After much deliberation I finally decided to go ahead and do it. I didn't used to like her character too much, but as I made the costume she grew on me. And look I can actually smile and be in character!!! How I made it: This costume was simple yet difficult. The shorts were existing biker shorts which I hand basted zippers onto then machine stitched. The fabric was a bit more complicated for the duster. I found some lovely light light blue wide rib knit fabric and then dyed it twice to get it to the right shade. The fabric was then cut into the duster and the sleeves and serged together. . . . That's where I realized I couldn't machine hem the sides.. so that's all hand stitched in the front and the arms there.. and then the bottom is serged. The skirt was an interesting blue cotton print I found. I draped the pattern myself then sewed and added silver buttons. The dusterwings are hand painted onto the back. Oh yes, and the wings. I did some research first to try and figure out the structure on them. I used tom turkey feathers and flat turkey feathers, copper and hot glue and fabric for them. Likes: I just love this costume. It's comfortable, the wings are gorgeous, and the wig is human hair.. yay! Also in some of the pictures it looked like my eyes turned brown.. that too is cool! Dislikes: I don't like mosquito bites. They itch.
