Why I made it: Well. . . Last year (2005) at Katsucon I swore I would NEVER do a Naruto cosplay. This year (2006) at Katsucon I debuted my Orochimaru costume. I don't know what happened. One minute I was peaceful in my dislike for the overdone anime, the next I was drooling over Orochimaru who was in my opinion "The hottest thing since Sliced Pikachu." I guess I just have a thing for those snake guys. This was my second Anime costume while being called Winters Knight. The only others I had done prior to this were Sailor Kakyuu and Sesshoumaru!

How I made it: This one was relatively simple. I used a microfiber and a drafted pattern to make the tunic, then I used simple gray pants, adhesive bandage tape, and a black turtleneck. The shoes were purchased and I styled a Human Hair wig for this one. The toughest part of this costume was the "Ginormous Purple Bow". I tried this three times before it actually worked. The first time I rolled purple fleece and wrapped wire around it. This was fine but it didn't have any breadth to it. So I filled it with curtain fabric. This proved too heavy and it certainly wouldn't tie in a bow. I ended up having to make the bow in two pieces and use purple fleece wrapped around pipe insulation with wire around all of it. This gave it the desired breadth and strength while still being light enough to hold it's shape comfortably.

The makeup was purchased (it's a white foundation with a white liquid powder over it) and the contacts are the ones I used for Sesshoumaru.

Likes: I love cosplaying a snakish person. Snake is one of my totems so I can really get into character with him. I also love my wig. It's my second Human wig and it's really wonderful.

Dislikes: I don't like having to wear all the white makeup. Its dreadful to the pores and it takes forever to get on and off.
