Jadis The White Witch

Why I made it: I have always wanted to be the white witch even since I was in kindergarten. I used to go about with a card board wand that I made and try to turn my classmates to stone (it didn’t work unfortunately). So naturally when Tilda Swinton was cast as the ice queen I HAD to do at least one of her costumes! Yaya and Reanna and everyone else kept urging me to do it too, and Mark was so awesome as to buy me the actual Master Replicas Wand as a gift! So here it all is finally!

How I made it: First off there is a corseted layer on heavy cotton upholstery fabric with 22 steel bones of varying heights to give the dress structure. The base for the dress is black crinkle velvet and plush felt with some special colouring done on it. Then lace was hand sewn onto it all over in small pieces so as to make it not all point the same way. After that (which took a good 14 hours plus 4 of that mum helped me!) more colouring was done.

The bird is made from scratch with a wire base and then fabric then feathers then colouring. The head is made of rigid wrap and painted. The cape is chiffon.

Reanna spent 3 hours in the morning doing up my hair like that. There are 66 hairpins, 1 styrofoam cone, 3 packets of hair, and 1.5 entire tubes of Got2B Glued in there. Thanks sooo much to her for that!

I have black contacts to complete the look.

Likes: I love the bird, and I love the wand (thanks Mark!!). I also love my black contacts, they’re the sexy ^_^.

Dislikes: I would like to make the cape out of a crinkle chiffon, and the bird liked to bruise my collar bone a little.
